Philosophy

C&R Candidates believe that:

Auckland should be a city and region where people of initiative and enterprise, whatever their chosen vocation, have the opportunity to flourish and develop for the betterment both of themselves and their community.

The traditional rights of private property ownership must be respected.

The heritage of our natural environment must be conserved in so far as is practicable for the use and enjoyment of both present and future generations.

Each individual should have the freedom to act according to his own conscience as long as he/she does not transgress on the greater public good.

Every improvement in the life of each individual citizen enhances the life of the total community. A vital cornerstone of our community is the strength of the family unit.

The maintenance of law and order within Auckland is fundamental for the preservation of our way of life.

Local Government should be for the good of Auckland as a total community and not for any sectional interest.

Local authorities must at all times give value for money. The 'user pays' principle should be applied wherever practicable and appropriate to local government services.

Central government policies should not intrude upon local government and that separation of the powers of the two is one of the vital safeguards against the erosion of civil liberties.
